The Pica Beats is the solo moniker of R.Barrett, also of Fen Wik Ren and Ant Brr Rye.

This first album is a mix of newer songs, as well as older songs (or variations) that I never got around to recording or releasing over the years.

"Poison Pen" and "Beatnik Heart" were originally partially written for the Songs About Books project organized by Levi Fuller and Paul Constant. These two songs were inspired by/a reaction to, Michel Houellebecq's The Possibility of an Island.

An alternate version of "Rialto" appears on the Pica Beat's album Better In Color. This slower version is actually closer to the original demo sketch.
